Loss contributions by component
System pressure loss curve
• Flow Velocity: Pressure lines: 3-6 m/s, Return lines: 2-4 m/s, Suction lines: < 1.2 m/s
• Pressure Drop: Keep total system ΔP < 10% of working pressure for efficiency.
• Oil Temperature: Optimal 40-55°C. Above 65°C accelerates seal/oil degradation.
• Reservoir Sizing: 3-5× pump flow rate. Include cooling if heat > 1.5kW.
• Rod/Bore Ratio: Common ratios: 1:1.4, 1:1.6, 1:2 for balanced extend/retract speeds.
• Pump Selection: Size for 90% of theoretical flow; account for volumetric efficiency losses.
